A journalist who claims to be a former friend of Meghan Markle has publicly criticized her and Prince Harry’s decision to leave royal life, claiming the couple “had it all.”

TV personality Lizzie Cundy, who befriended Markle in 2013, expressed strong opinions about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex during a recent interview. Cundy took aim at the pair’s post-royal life in the U.S., suggesting they had squandered the privileges and platform of their former royal roles.

“They whinge, they moan, they criticize and they are not very grateful. They had it all,” Cundy said.

Cundy also voiced frustration over the couple’s absence from the 2025 Trooping the Colour parade held on Saturday, June 15, 2025. The annual event marked King Charles III’s official birthday celebration in London, which the Sussexes did not attend.

Discussing her own falling out with Markle, Cundy alleged the duchess cut ties after beginning her relationship with Prince Harry in 2016.

“I was a dating service for Meghan Markle and she ghosted me,” Cundy said. “She didn’t answer me back when she got with Prince Harry. I didn’t work for her again and I can understand why people are leaving her.”

While royal family members gathered on the Buckingham Palace balcony during Saturday’s festivities, Markle and Prince Harry spent Father’s Day weekend privately.

On Sunday, June 16, the Duchess shared a video on Instagram featuring Prince Harry and their children, including rare behind-the-scenes moments. “The best. Happy Father’s Day to our favorite guy 💕,” she captioned the clip.
