Videos from the crash site reveal haunting destruction after a flight in India struck a medical hostel, leaving nearly 300 dead and several missing.

The Air India flight, bound for London’s Gatwick Airport, crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad airport, slamming into the BJ Medical College and Hospital hostel.

The impact destroyed part of the building where medical students were staying and sparked a nationwide response, as emergency crews scrambled to recover bodies and locate the missing.

According to CNN, the Federation of All India Medical Association reported that four to five students from the hostel remain unaccounted for. Between 50 and 60 students have been admitted to hospitals, with at least two or three in intensive care.

In addition, three to four relatives of resident doctors are missing, and the wife of one resident has been confirmed dead. The association has called for urgent blood donations.

This comes after a senior doctor at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital told CNN that at least 290 people have died. The victims include passengers — some of them minors — as well as local residents and those inside the hostel at the time of impact. Authorities have warned that the death toll may continue to rise.

The aircraft was carrying Indian, British, Canadian, and Portuguese nationals.

Wreckage from the plane was found scattered across the BJ Medical College campus. A section of the aircraft was embedded in the upper floors of a hostel building, where dozens of medical students had been staying.

Emergency crews in protective suits were seen recovering bodies and searching the rubble. Footage from inside the building showed destroyed staircases, shattered concrete, and collapsed walls. Volunteers and rescue workers climbed over mounds of debris, searching for any signs of life.

Only one survivor has been confirmed, according to ABC News. Outside, authorities cordoned off the area with caution tape. Blackened corridors, scorched vehicles, and melted furnishings marked the path of the crash.

The dining hall inside the hostel, though structurally intact, was layered with dust and ash. Half-eaten meals and untouched trays remained on the tables, underscoring the abruptness of the incident and the extent of the tragedy within the walls of a medical institution.
