AITAH more information on wanting room decorated correctly or even just nicely

A few days ago I created a post using this same throwaway account and it was a mixed bag of responses. But now I have a lot more information to share.

Well as said, it turns out I was missing quite a lot of things out re the decoration standard.

Our house is small so it’s not possible to completely clear the whole room whilst it’s being decorated, but it seems FiL was a bit strategic for placing things so I didn’t notice straight away.

I was in there yesterday clearing bits and pieces from the previous attempt and noticed a big (imo) mess up on one of the wallpaper drops, this then had me looking harder at everything else:

• One of the drops is cut off horizontally fully halfway down the wall and then another piece is put next to that patterns don’t match

• None of the other drops anywhere around the room have had the pattern matched

• There’s a section on the corner wall where there are gaps all the way down

There was no shortage of this paper as there are 3 unused unopened rolls of it, which as it took a while for the work to be started and the paper is now discontinued are wasted, so on top of 3 wasted rolls I’ve had to buy more paper.

I can only assume I didn’t notice this sooner because the paper is white as it’s a paintable and I was only looking at it from far away (the door) before and as mentioned the horizontal joint was hidden from view. This is when the room is finished going to be right next to the bed so very much visible.

Also I assumed as I gave it to him the primer / undercoat was used – it wasn’t he’s gone straight in with gloss over the brown woodwork.

I wasn’t expecting high quality professional results, but this is just horrible, so I ask again am I the AH for expecting the results to look better than this or at least look nice?

I have pictures on my profile but I’m not sure how to add them in here as the option isn’t highlighted as available.
